The Complete Guide To Birds Of European Russia (a collection of 3 books) - Kalyakin, Koblik (2013 edition). Very good, informative books and a worthy purchase for bird enthusiasts. Great paper quality, a pleasant format, detailed photos and clear descriptions. The downside of these books is their current price.
There is a lot of comments saying that the woodcock has been separated from its flock and can't fly alone. Many migratory bird species migrate singly, not in flocks. Woodcock, nightjars, scops owls and many others. They don't need a flock for travelling. They can fly in a group, but the flight can take another month. Even if some birds get left behind, they can always find another flock.
For those wannabe hunters who suggested making soup out of the woodcock and boasted about their hunting achievements: you're not uhoo. You're just wannabes. No fair hunter would behave in such an unworthy way. Treating nature and friends with fairness and respect seems like an alien concept to you. Hurting an animal that needs help is something a heartless poacher would do, not an fair hunter. Making stupid jokes about soup and recipes in a place where people gather to share their love of nature is for Petrosyan followers. Get out.
I personally know a lot of hunters, and those include some of my coworkers. Not a single one of them thought of making soup out of a woodcock. Such a suggestion makes them all react the same way: "Are we hungry or something?" And you seem to be very hungry. Not just physically, but also mentally.
I'm not criticising hunting and hunters in general. But your behaviour makes me angry. Because you're wannabes.
And now, an answer to a question without taking likes and time into account, as comments written in English get few likes due to the language barrier.

Здравствуйте, Ника, мой вопрос: какие другие виды птиц, рептилий или животных вы бы хотели сохранить в будущем?
Or
hello Nika, what other types of birds, animals, or reptiles would you like to keep in the future? Thanks"
Answer:
There's a lot of animals I wish to have. For my flat, I'm seriously thinking of getting a couple of giant geckos (Rhacodactylus leachianus). But they are quite expensive pets, and I can't afford them yet.
There are also certain leopard gecko morphs I can only dream of, as they cost tens of thousands of rubles, or a couple thousand dollards. (Black night, Blood.)
Once I move to a cottage in the countryside, I'll be able to get many of the pets I wish to have. Various owl species that aren't found in Russia: the northern white-faced owl, the great horned owl. I also want some snowy owls.
A dream that is unlikely to ever come true is breeding and reintroduction of Blakiston's fish owls. The rarest owl species on Earth, they're becoming extinct. There is now less of them than there are Amur tigers.
I also want a Highland cow. And a regular cow too. I like them more than horses and dogs.
For now these are my main desires. Everything else is just fantasies.
