During the first few minutes of the video, it seems like nothing is happening. Just an owl idling on a window sill. But that's not the case.
Yoll wants to go outside.
If I'm not in the room, she doesn't do this to show that she wants to go out. She just sits and waits, knowing that the window won't open by itself. A human is needed for that.
She says "U-hoo" in response to my words, so it's actual communication. Even an eagle-owl finally understood that she needs to say things out loud for getting what she wants, not just imply it with her eyes and body language. Be like an eagle-owl, and many things will be much easier! When you need something, use words. Out of your mouth.
Yoll also knows very well that she must be tethered before going outside, so she calmly waits, allowing me to do it, and only after that she rushes outside.
This morning a young goshawk came to Yoll. A few months ago there was a sparrowhawk, but this time it's a goshawk! I noticed him when, with a battle cry, he tried to hit Yoll on the head with his feet. His goal wasn't to catch and eat her, but just to show off and demonstrate his coolness.
When he saw me, the hawk flew away. Yoll didn't even know what happened.
