Slightly dusty video from my trip to St. Petersburg in early August. We went to the event organized by very interesting group: enthusiasts who help to pull out stuck cars in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region. (Unfortunate drivers who manage to get themselves into pits, ditches, quicksand or even lakes call for help in social networks - a member of the group who is near comes in his powerful car and pulls them out). Artyom Off-Road (link attached to original description) happened to be a guest of honor and recipient of a diploma as the most active rescuer in Off-Road nomination.
Staring out of the window on the way to our event I was longing to get out for a walk in picturesque forest with blooming heather meadows between the pines. But we were in a hurry.
To my delight the event was taking place in exactly the same kind of forest. We stumbled upon long abandoned pillboxes, ruins, cartridge cases from various calibers crunched inderfoot. I filled my pockets to the point of bursting because this metal can be used for making bijouterie and is not to be sneezed upon in general.
While Artyom's noble accomplices entertained themselves with barbecue and music we wandered around trying not to get shot. It seems that forest serves as local arena for shooting practice to a surprisingly large number of people. We looked for whatever was there to find, rescued frogs from the trench. The stream did not work due to the lack of Internet, but we later launched it from nearby Lake Mednoye (Copper Lake).
This year of my life turned out to be full of heather. Previously I saw it regularly and in plenty near Nizhny Novgorod, but always in spring, when leaves only just started to appear. And this year I managed to see all phases from gray twigs to honey pink meadows. Another little dream came true. Now I absolutely insist on planting heather in our village. (Maybe it will make friends with sundews Nika brought from another trip and planted earlier).
