In mid August Misha came to us with one foot covered in blood. We only managed to catch and examine him on the following day. The foot turned out to be broken. It was an open fracture, which we managed to fix, but apparently there was damage done to the blood vessels, disrupting the blood flow, so the foot shrivelled up and had to be amputated.
Of course everyone was very upset and tried to help, but alas. Nobody saw how Misha broke his foot. It seems that he got it stuck somewhere. This experience hasn't taught him anything, as he continues to climb onto machinery and annoy drivers.
He refused to remain in an enclosure. He now flies a lot, has fights with crows and visits us to receive treats.
It's impossible to make a prosthetic foot that would hold securely on the stub that's left of his leg, so Misha needs to fly more. He already got used to doing almost everything with one foot, but he can't scratch his ear. He doesn't let us scratch him, and he hasn't thought of scratching his head against a doorpost.
