What said in this video is also true for all owl species having feather 'ears'. Those owls that don't have them use different ways of disguise, so that 'ears' aren't necessary or even get in the way. 'Ear'-less owls are usually raising their offspring and hiding from dangers in tree hollows and clefts, so feather 'ears' are of little use for them. There are also subtleties with how face disc feathering is organized to facilitate echo-location and hunting, but that's another long story. I think that general idea is clear.
