Anyone can offend an owl. We're deeply ashamed of our actions, but it's dangerous for birds of prey to eat wild city rats. The rat may have eaten poison before and poison the owl in turn. Varya got rid of the entrails and ate only the front half and, luckily, felt alright afterwards, but we cautiously got rid of the bottom half of the rat.
Eagle Owl Varvara (Varya, for short) lives at the falconry in Kolomenskoe near Moscow. Her keeper Sergey has raised her from hatchling, he pampers and adores Varya.
