For me, the most nervous stage in the taming and training of a bird of prey is just this. The bird panics, tries to fly away, does not understand what is happening. Moreover, even a tame bird that has grown up in a nursery will do this when it is first put on the arm and fixed with a leash.
Learning to sit on your hand is a fairly fast process. Everything is individual, but usually it does not take more than an hour in total.
It doesn't hurt the bird. Properly made ammunition protects the paws from sprains and damage.
But in no case should you put on the entanglements and teach the bird to sit on the arm with a fixed leash if the bird had injuries to the paws and musculoskeletal system. Not if you don't want to permanently cripple the bird.
It is necessary to carefully monitor the general condition of the hawk so that it does not overheat and does not get excited.
I worked out for about 15 minutes, put on a hawk hood and put him to rest for the night.
The next day we continued and in about 30 minutes the hawk realized how it worked and stood on his hand.
